Yesterday, in their inaugural matches, the Bohemia Eurekas fought admirably but fell to the mighty Eclipse. In the first match, Bohemia trailed 17-1 after five innings but valiantly tallied 12 aces in an unsuccessful comeback effort. The final tally was 21-13. In the second match, the veteran Eclipse started strong posting 12 tallies before the Eurekas crossed the dish. The aggressive Eclipse, as is customary, legged 34 stolen bases during the match catapulting them to a 20-5 victory.

In his first ever pitching performance, Bill “Pockets” Freeland took the pitcher’s point and performed with ginger plucking several apples on one bound. Captain Glyn “Hammer” Richards and second-basetender Mike “Irish” Phelan led the offensive charge combining for 13 hits, 10 tallies, and 17 stolen bases. Defensively, the entire Eclipse club played well as the throng was treated to many fine plucks.

Although the final tallies don’t show it, the muffin-loaded Bohemia club demonstrated much promise and will certainly be a force in the base ball community for years to come.
